Welcome to Head Start!
You and your child are starting on an exciting journey, not only in preschool education, but also in many other areas of learning together. Parents are a child’s first teacher. This means you have been teaching your child for these first years of his or her life. Please join us in working with your child to build on those strengths that you have established. We wish to work with you on the continuation of your child’s education. Head Start is a family centered preschool educational program. We have an open door policy here and you are welcome at any time.
Helpful Tips:
PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD’S BACKPACK DAILY. Thank you.
To help your child get off to a good start, please try following tips:
Make sure your child gets a good night sleep.
Young children need at least 8 hours per night.
Make sure your child is dressed and ready to meet the bus each morning.
Watch for the bus at least 15 minutes ahead of time.
Separation from your child might be a challenge at first.
You and your child may shed a few tears the first few days, but realize that separation anxiety is usually short lived. If you put them on the bus with a kiss and a hug, then shortly both of you will know the routine.
Talk with your child about school and the new kids they will meet.
Be positive and let him or her know that “school is cool!”
