Established in 1974, Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged members of North Central Indiana.

Current openings:

Health Data Collection RN –  Logansport (temporary part-time)

Responsible for the bi-monthly collection of health statistics of the clients involved in the Produce for Better Health program through the Agency.  Two to four times each month, health statistics including weight and blood pressure will be collected, recorded in a log, and entered in a database for the Nutrition Manager to submit to the State of Indiana. This position will be open from May 1, 2023, through June 30, 2025. Job duties include: Regularly collect health stats from clients at the congregate meal sites in all six counties. Collect weight and blood pressure data from every client involved in the PBH grant program.  Track data in a database correctly using excellent entry skills to assure correct and current data is entered without error.  Submit the database to the Nutrition Manager no later than the 1st day of each month. Adhere to all Agency policies regarding HIPAA and PHI information. Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and adequate auto insurance. Must be an RN or LPN.  Must have excellent people skills, have an excellent driving record, and meet the minimum requirements for employment with the Agency.  Preferred prior experience working with geriatric clients and have knowledge of proper use of blood pressure and weight scale equipment to ensure proper and uniform data collection.  This person will be standing for long periods, lifting up to 20 pounds, and must be able to work at least 8 hours per day.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Each congregate meal site offers a positive client-centered atmosphere that must be respected during any interaction with the Agency’s clients. 

Head Start Preschool Positions

Head Start Lead Teacher - Logansport (full-time)

We're looking for someone to teach a Head Start preschool classroom in Logansport for kids ranging from 3-5 years old.  Full time with benefits.  In addition to having an Associate's degree, must be reliable, patient and caring.  Responsible for planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Pay depends on experience and education.

Head Start Teacher Assistant – Logansport (full-time)

Assists the Lead Teacher in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Must be reliable, patient & caring with children ranging from 3-5 years old.  Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

Head Start Substitute Teacher Assistant – Logansport (as needed)

Assists the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

Nutrition / Kitchen Positions

Substitute Nutrition Site Manager – Wabash (part-time)

Substitutes for our current Nutrition Site Manager as needed by facilitating the serving of the noon meal program. Duties may include: calling in meal reservations in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate documentation and money handling procedures, following proper portion control servings, etc. Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults & have a valid driver’s license.

Substitute Nutrition Site Manager – Tipton (part-time) 

Facilitates the serving of the noon meal program when regular Nutrition Site Manager is off.  Duties may include: calling in meal reservations in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate documentation and money handling procedures, following proper portion control servings, etc.  Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults & have a valid driver’s license.
